Fascinating, wide-ranging and evocative collection of essays on Africa. The chapters on Rwanda and Liberia were particularly interesting. One small criticism: taken as a whole they present a somewhat negative view of the continent. Kapuscinski obviously loves Africa, but all the stories he tells are about war, corruption, famines, heat, and monstrous insects. I'd like to hear a bit more about the good things that are happening there.
