Donna The Happy Booker This was my response:

Kara,

Thank you for informing me of your decision to remove my review from the community book page. For the record, I completely disagree with this policy as I think a consumer has every right to be informed of all aspects of a product they are researching with an intent to purchase, rent, borrow, etc. If a reader does not find the author's behavior relevant, they can easily disregard any mention of it and focus only on the merits of the book being discussed. If, however, a consumer does find an author's behavior to be relevant, this information should be available to them or at the very least, not be hidden from them. If an author does not want this type of behavior listed on their community book page, they should endeavor not to behave in such a way for it to be listed there as such. Will this same policy hold true for books written by convicted pedophiles or serial killers? Shouldn't potential buyers of their books be made aware of the type of person their purchase will be supporting? I do understand that this situation is very different, but my question is, where exactly is that line drawn as to what Goodreads will allow and what it will not. Nonetheless, I do understand that this is now Goodreads policy and I have no intention of leaving Goodreads at this time until a better alternative is made available with a social media site similar to Goodreads but that is more focused on the readers than in providing positive marketing for authors.

Thank you,
Donna Smith
