Fun, fun, fun book. It’s a rare work that can be both very dark and slyly amusing. In this, two Wild West outlaws head toward San Francisco as they’ve been contracted to kill a man and they experience various adventures along the way. This almost reads like a long short story, or a series of short stories, even though it’s regular novel length. The plot isn’t deep or complicated, nor are the Sisters Brothers. Still, it works. The writing is sharp and I absolutely loved the descriptions (and too brief stint) of gold rush San Francisco. The extraneous characters are fun, if not at times over the top, and I loved the relationship with Eli and his horse. Overall just a funky, different kind of book.
