it was amazing

Basically we've managed to destabilize the pleasant and livable climatic conditions that gave rise to human civilization. Life on "Eaarth" won't bear a huge amount of resemblance to life on Earth. As the price of oil climbs, big box industrial capitalism will suffer along with the consumer lifestyle that it is designed to support. McKibben's book is about finding ways to survive this inevitable crash gracefully...through distributed renewable energy production, community activism, energy conservation, getting dirty in the garden, etc. A very absorbing read. Glad someone is being realistic!
