A lovely little book that traces the history and value of puns (defined rather broadly in places as pretty much any kind of language play) and their long decline in cultural respectability (though not prevalence). The author is careful to work puns themselves into the book (as the title and subtitle demonstrate). Good stuff, recommended for language lovers and, well, folks who like puns.
