Definitely fast paced and exciting. However, it was ridiculously unbelievable. The author does not seem to be interested in adding any content of emotional or intellectual value. The main character pauses about 3/4th of the way through the book to announce "I discovered that I didn't want to die." Wow. profound. Until then I hadn't realized he was suicidal? He is chasing his wife and son across Europe and feels now is the moment for "deep thoughts by Jack Handy"???
Also, *spoiler alert*, he never finds his kid. The ending is left open and unresolved for no other reason than to allow for future sequels. In my opinion it takes more than adrenaline for a book to have merit.
