** spoiler alert ** This is a strong coming-of-age book. What I liked best about it was the loving period detail, and the moment-by-moment revelations of what was going on in Jamie's mind. I had some difficulty with the ending, but I prefer death, destruction and dismemberment, if possible, and what this book gave me was a sense of hope--god forbid--that it would indeed work out for her and her family in the end. So while it's not my kind of thing, necessarily, I'm really glad I read it.

Jeff Hey, I just started this last night.
I'll let you know, and you can let me know, and in this, we will share thoughts and also feelings

Rusty This sounds good. The book I'm writing is from the POV of a kid the same age, so I'm doing research, so to say, on 12-15 year old narrators of both genders. The first few pages of this are the shit, I have to say. Funny and provocative and real. Looking forward to the rest.

Rusty I finished it, man. It's good stuff.
