Winnie Dixie went to the library with Opal. She asked Ms. Franny if she had any book recommendations. She wanted a book to read to Gloria Dump her very closed friend. Ms. Franny told her she had a good book about the civil war called "Gone with the Wind". Opal didn't knew anything about the civil war, so she asked. Ms.Franny told her a story about the civil war and of her relatives connection to the civil war. Then Opal accepted the book and went to Gloria Dump's house. She told her about the book and Gloria was very glad to hear it. The book had 1,037 pages so they started before it was too late. That day they read the first chapter of the book. Gloria loved the book and she thanked Opal for bringing it and reading it to her. She also said she was very anxious to read the second chapter. Then it was almost night so she went to her house. At her house she shared some of her experiences of that day with her father, the preacher. She also asked the questions that where introduced to her during that day. She asked about who was Carson. The preacher answered it was Amanda's brother that died a year ago. Carson was only 5 years old and he drowned and that explained why Amanda had a pinched face of sadness.

I read about many different things. I begun reading that Winn Dixie has a pathological fear to thunderstorms. He has a phobia towards them and Opal's dad discovered that one of these days when Winn Dixie woke up and start doing messes at home during midnight in a storm. Then I read about Opal first day working at the Pet Shop, she realized he was a criminal and that he has being in jail. She was afraid of her fathers opinion towards that so she didn't told him. When she went out of the store she met with Swetie Pie. She was her little new friend and she remind Opal about her party. Then she went to Gloria Dump's house. She was teased by the 2 brothers before entering. She decided not to care what they say. She entered very obfuscated to Gloria's house because she specifically didn't like one thing the Dewberry Boys told her. They said Gloria was a witch and that made her very mad. Still she entered and told everything to Gloria. Gloria was like her diary she told her everything. She liked a lot being there and so Winn Dixie did. She felt very comfortable in that house so she went almost daily.
