Even great stories can get side-tracked.

3 stars because this book started out fantastic. Art student in Prague angle was really interesting. I wanted to know more about Karou's family. I wanted to know more about the teeth. I wanted to know what was on the other side of that door! There were surprises and a non-traditional storyline and 3D characters...

And then the EPIC flashback. /facepalm

I didn't mind that the book was basically split in two. I didn't mind finding out about Karou's history and putting the present on hold. I minded that after the flashback began, the story devolved into a melodramatic teen romance that I've read a hundred times before. So sad! I wanted to enjoy it, but it just felt predictable. HE felt flat. And I got bored. But then again, I'm not generally a romance-lover, so maybe others will like it.
