Sweeping Up Glass is a good summer read. It has mystery, intrigue, action, romance, racial tension, and the drama that's only possible in a small town. That said, it felt too fragmented, like it was trying to be too many things. What I liked most about it was how it reminded me of the movie Winter's Bones. The characters are so consumed with just getting by, with having enough to eat, that it's nearly impossible for them to think about bigger issues.
