Appeal of Zero Sight lies largely in its pair of protagonists. Dieter is an intelligent but troubled teenager who wants to get out of eroding city of Los Angeles through college scholarship. Rei, a vampire, is shunned by her classmates and struggles to keep a lid on her blood thirst. Both are engrossing and relatable in their own way. Interactions between the two are some of the high points in the novel.

But there are some aspects which could have been improved. On various occasions inconsistent internal logic makes it hard to maintain suspension of disbelief. Without any major resolution climax was also a little disappointing.

Overall it is an encouraging start of new urban fantasy series. I will be waiting for next part.
