A dense book but quite enjoyable told in the small journal style as A Brief History of Montmaray. Sophie and her family have moved from Montmaray to England after the Nazis invaded their small island and castle. They are the only remaining living Montmaravians. Life in England is about debutante balls and society parties. Sophie and her family are concerned about getting their small island nation back from the Nazis and are appealing to the League of Nations. All of this is happening as Hitler's slowly taking control of European countries and some atrocities are making the news from Germany.
