The brother of the heroine in the first book—he got himself kidnaped by an evil spy woman in that book and has felt guilty for his betrayals ever since. In this one, he’s the hero. He hires a young tutor for his adopted son, never noticing that Philip is really Philippa—the daughter of one of his spy company’s best cryptographers. Lots of complications—lots and lots—very well done. Each feels betrayed by the other—good stuff.
