I've read this three or four times before; my mom had a copy and I'd pick it up whenever I didn't have anything else to read. There are parts that are (to me now, anyway), cringeworthy, but it's still probably my favourite bit of Arthur mythology.

Still, why refer so often to Malory? It's pretty lazy, however good Le Morte's prose. I don't remember noticing so many of those references when I read this in the past. I think I also forgot how little Merlyn has to do with anything after Wart pulled the sword out of the stone.

In any case, it's still comforting read.
