Although this one is not as engaging as the earlier Dear Deer, it certainly contains wonderful puns and a quick run through several homographs, homonyms, and homophones. The idea of a huge outdoor concert with all of these strangely-named performers [Carter Piller, Carmen Chameleon, Florence Welk, Hedda Hip-Hopper, and Seals & Crawfish]was a bit contrived, but it also allowed the author to play around with words such as close/close, present/present, record/record, and wind/wind. The watercolor illustrations show the animals enjoying the music as performers and fans. You have to love the dreadlocked feline on the opening pages.
