Sheehan has written a beautiful book here. Rocky, our main character, is a psychologist married to a veterinarian who dies suddenly at 42. She turns to a job as an animal control officer (I LOVE irony!) and rescues Lloyd, a wounded dog. "Oh, crapola!" you're probably thinking. Well, don't. Her relationship with Lloyd while she's learning to deal with her grief is superbly told. Even better, the ending is unpredictable. Ms. Sheehan shows that even in the midst of grief and loss, life can be uplifting. I love this book.
