This series is great for unconventional women, although Gwenvael is quite a bit outside the norm as well.

What I enjoyed:
* Gwenvael. I had already liked him from his brothers' books, but this just cemented it. You learn he does have a brain and is quite wily. (view spoiler)
* Dagmar. She is very devious and she loves dogs. She thought she was stuck in her father's lands but makes the most of the opportunity given her.
* I love how both Dagmar and Gwenvael have a certain thing they say when startled from sleep - it tells much of their character.
* Lots of Gwenvael's family as Annwyl is pregnant and they are all gathered to help protect.
* I'm glad there was the epilogue. It was perfect and I was wondering.

What could have been better:
* I was a bit spoiled as I had read something recently about people crying while reading this book, which helped prepare me for what was coming, (view spoiler)
* The bit with Ragnar and his father seemed off.
