** spoiler alert ** I was up all night reading this book. It was about a girl on spring break. She sees her boyfriend and her best friend hooking up and she decides to steal his car. She drives drunk and hits a man. A police officer comes and helps her out. He tells her that they can bury the body and that her life can go on. A few short weeks later she is married to the police officer and thinks that her life is going great. There is a shooting and her husband is injured. A man approaches her and tells her she is not safe. He gives her a business card with dates written on the back. She goes to the library and learns that her husband was married before and that he was suspected in his first wives death. The girl decides to fake her own death. She hitchhikes, almost gets killed and ends up in New York City. Present time, she has a sixteen year old daughter that wants to know about her father. The mom lies and says he died. The daughter gets to meet her real father, the police man and soon understands why her mother lied and wishes her father was dead. It all ends well, but it was quite a ride. Great story.
