Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels, #5.5)Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well I can take a breath now that the roller coaster ride that is Gunmetal Magic: A Novel in the World of Kate Daniels is behind me. As usual with anything the Andrews team writes it was freakin amazing and I guess I was the only person that did not catch the Kate Daniels “world” in the title that should have given me a clue that this was not a story about Kate (although she does show up in several key places in the book) this is about Andrea and Raphael with the usual amount of intensity and twists that we have come to expect from the superior writing entity that is Ilona Andrews. I have to be honest in many ways it was like reading Kate Daniels with shifting abilities instead of magic, which by any measure is NOT a bad thing :) The romance angle bounced between anger, chaos, sadness and passion, with a large dose of humor in the mix, hard to beat all that. Did I mention they have to get rid of two gods along the way if they are gonna get a HEA, tuff act to follow.
Bottom Line: If you have enjoyed the Kate Daniels series (one of the best UF with a dose of PNR on the market IMHO) then you are going to love this. NOTE: Many of us already had the Kate Daniels novella Magic Gifts (which was a free gift from the website) which was exceptional for a novella and if you have not read it you should be aware it is included in the back of this novel.
