Towards the end, Martin states that sometimes interviewers will whisper, "You're very private". To which he rebutts, "A private person wouldn't be here". Which I'm sure is true, but in this day and age where celebrities air out their dirty laundry to everyone and anyone who will listen, Martin is an anomaly. What does anyone really know about his private life? I found it shocking that he was married. Although he is writing an autobiography, it's written almost from a third person perspective. These are the moments from Steve Martin's life, this is what he did and when he did it- with very little emotion behind it, it's hard to believe Martin wrote this himself. I enjoyed Martin's commentary on certain situations and I enjoyed the teeny tiny view he allowed the reader into his life.
