This one is fairly a staple of the whole young adult fantasy community, and from what I recall, it was a decent enough read - but keeping in mind that I was in the 8-10 range when I went into that undertaking. Looking back, the story is entertaining enough, but the writing style is a bit of a drag, and the characterizations could use some work. I say that realizing, of course, that Drizzt is one a lot hold as one of the defining characters of the fantasy genre - but that doesn't change facts. The characterization is a bit shallow, but the action is enough to carry it and endear it to younger audiences.

If you're in those early years, just cracking open your fantasy works with broad smiles, I'd say this one is worth it - at the least it will entertain. If you've since passed into adulthood, I would have reservations in recommending it.
