An Algonquin tribe has many young ladies who are trying to win the affections of the mysterious Invisible Being. He lies with his sister, and she must approve all the girls who want to marry him. the Rough-Face Girl, who is scarred from working by the fire, takes a chance to gain his affections after her two mean sisters have failed.

This is a beautiful rendition of a Cinderella story. It would be nice to do a comaprison unit and have students compare and contrast various Cinderella tales.
