Beautiful story on par with White Teeth or Oscar Wao (well, almost, though the comic book references make for a natural comparison). The life of a young white kid in a rough, primarily black Brooklyn neighborhood in the 60s that eventually gentrifies. Thoughtful, clever writing spanning many decades. Highly recommended.
