This is a collection of long newspaper articles that Michael Connelly wrote before he started writing novels. I didn't find the articles themselves very interesting, but the preface was very interesting. Connelly talks about how he got interested in crime reporting, and discusses some of the events and people he met who influenced his creation of Bosch.

There is also an Afterword written by Michael Carlson titled "The Novelist as Reporter" that is also very interesting.
