I really enjoyed Angelfire and the ending really had me itching to get my hands on the next book. I enjoyed this one a little more than Angelfire but I have to say the one thing that did bother me was how people and especially Ellie comment or think how much stronger and kick ass she is than everyone else. As you keep reading though although she does kick butt now and then it seems more often than not she takes a beating until Will or someone else comes along to rescue her. I get that she is not at her full strength yet and does not have all her past memories yet but she sure is arrogant talking about how she can kick everyone's butt when really she can't survive on her own. It's hard to believe but I really don't care for her character at all and is probably what keeps me from rating this series as a whole 4 stars or more. She's whiny about wanting to party like any other girl, selfish about wanting to hang out with friends and stay with her mother despite everyone pointing out how much danger she puts them in and sheer stupidity like getting herself into a possible rape situation and still denying she needs any help.
What I loved about this book? Two words "Will" and "Cadan"! I fell in love with Will in Angelfire and loved seeing more of his history, what he was like in between reincarnations of Ellie and his friendships outside of Ellie. Cadan intrigued me when we first met him in Angelfire and I became enamored on him in this book. He is sexy and being on the dark side gives him that edgy bad boy charm tempered by his desire to fight his heritage and help Ellie. Talk about tough decisions if one had to choose between Will and Cadan? I would be a happy girl with either guy.
The story took on some interesting twists and turns that will keep the reader hooked until the last page. I will admit there are a few parts that almost brought tears to my eyes as I grew attached to certain characters. Yet again Courtney Allison Moulton had me wanting to tear my hair out because I did not have book 3 to dive into right away.
