Awesome book so far. I love exciting travel lit that is also good history of the place. The author starts out spending some time on the Slavs entry into Europe and the other "tribes" of the area. Also mentions the meanings of color in that area's art and their reflections of history. Russians=white, Steppe people/ Easterners =Black while the Slavs all use Red in their symbols. I have always wanted to go East and would love to take a year to travel to Ukraine, Crimea, and out past the Caspian Sea.
