The Field essentially describes McTaggart's contention that a unifying energy and consciousness ties the universe together. Not a particularly novel idea, but one that most people probably aren't familiar with unless they study things like "non-locality" and are already comfortable with "zero-point field" energy. What Lynne does well is present the subject as factually as possible and with an eye toward the lay reader's low tolerance for deeply scientific and as yet unproven theories that challenge a purely cosmological view of our universe.
