Format: 24 pages, appx. 1000 words

A simple retelling of the popular folktale about a cat who wears boots and finds fortune for her owner, the Miller's son. It begins: "Long ago, a poor old miller died." On page 2, the cat reveals her cleverness and forthrightness and she carries the energy of the story to the end.

The author-illustrator uses mixed media, combining fabric, paper, and paints to create vibrant panels to illustrate his retelling. The story holds it's own, however, strong enough to not rely on the illustrations to convey meaning.
