Although this started off a bit slow and at times I needed a score card to keep its incredibly long cast of characters straight in my mind, by its end I was fully invested in the book. Perhaps my recent move to Chicago helped fan the flames of excitement, but I found The Devil in the White City to be an entertaining and informative piece of work. Considering I'm not typically a fan of true crime literature and have very little architectural knowledge, that is most assuredly high praise. Though I will admit that from its start to finish, learning about events that occurred within walking distance of where I was reading undoubtedly contributed to my positive reading experience.
