This was my first memoir, and while I enjoyed it, it took me a while to get through it. There is some pretty heavy alphabet soup in the middle of the book, but as soon as she decides to run for president in 2005 it really takes off and get's interesting.

Johnson Sirleaf includes a history of modern Liberia, with a lot of international economics thrown in for good measure. I appreciated her unsentimental attitude and international perspective. I would absolutely recommend this book, though if you're truly interested in learning the material, give yourself some time to get through it.
