Interesting approach to write the biography of a poet in poems.

The author did a good job of writing distinctive voices for the various characters and the details and imagery really pulled you right through the story.

I think this would be an interesting book to use in a middle- or high-school classroom when studying slavery--especially as many of my students seem unaware that slavery goes on in other parts of the world!--and/or Cuban history, which would be something I'm not sure I ever learned in school.
