This picture storybook by Ian Falconer is a Caldecott Honors book. It is just adorable! Ian Falconer begins the book by saying, “This is Olivia. She is good at lots of things”. And that she is. She’s good at wearing people out, scaring her little brother (who loves to copy her), building sand castles, getting dressed, painting, and many other things, besides napping. I love this book because it is something that every child can relate to. Whether that is having an annoying younger sibling, or not wanting to sleep at naptime, I believe that every child can relate in some way. The illustrations are very simple, but yet still intriguing. They’re mostly black and white with highlights of red which help to grab the reader’s attention. I absolutely loved this book and it’s one of the cutest books I’ve ever read. I would definitely recommend this book to young children.
