What a classic! Very mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed the mystery although it was somewhat predictable. I did and didn't like the style of writing. Given it was 1938, popular culture, it was true to the era. I tend to find this too dated for my personal taste. I am glad I have read it. However, the Youtube clips of the old Lawrence Olivier movie were more fun than the book. I may have to order that DVD.

Nancy (NE) And dang if the Goodreads page on this book had a Youtube clip from the movie. I almost didn't want to watch it and ruin my own vision of the characters, but it was pretty entertaining. I want to order a copy of the DVD to watch when I'm done.

I have never seen the movie, will put that on my list of things to do.

Anna Elliott I first read this when I was about 14 and at that tender age I didn't find any of it predictable. I've read it since and still love it.
