Let me start by saying that I actually only found out about this series probably about 2 months or less ago and I have devoured. Every. Last. One.

Yes, I enjoy this series SO MUCH.

So when I happened along upon the ARC for the latest book in the Virgin River series I absolutely had to grab it up. I was probably willing to almost grovel for it, even.

Luckily, I was granted access to it and now here I am, overjoyed, satisfied and pleasantly complete. For now. Until the next book.

Gah, I can’t explain how much I love this series. I’m not saying that it didn’t have its ups and downs, but then again, what
book doesn’t?

I don’t know how Carr does it. I honestly don’t. She’s created this whole fictional piece of, sometimes unbelievable – but mainly realistic and amazing, little spot of heaven on earth. That’s about as good as I can sum it all up.

And in this latest book, we get the story of Denny Cutler and Rebecca (Becca) Timm.

To be honest I was rather excited to get to Denny’s story. I felt so bad for him after everything that he had to go through
before coming to Virgin River and after arriving. You see, after his mother died she left him a letter stating that the man he always thought was his father wasn’t really his father. Instead it was Jack Sheridan, who we all know from the other books.

Alas, it was not to be that Jack was his papa. But that doesn’t matter because they’d already bonded and Jack still thought of him as a son. Never mind blasted DNA. I liked that about Jack.

Anyway, Denny’s now been in Virgin River for a little over a year. He’s got a job at Jilly’s Farms and a part time one at Jack’s bar. He’s a very hard worker and an admirable young guy.

He’d enlisted in the Marines when he was a teen and had made friends with Rich Timm, a guy in his squad whom had taken him home when they were on leave. There he met Becca, Rich’s twin sister. And it was love at first sight. Both were still super young but they both had strong feelings for each other. Talk about swoon worthy.

So even though Becca was away at school – and people say long distance relationships never work – well, they made it work! They made it work for a couple of years until Denny’s mom fell ill and subsequently died after battling cancer for a few years. He’d felt alone and didn’t have his head on straight, so he signed up for a second tour of duty and was meant to be shipped off to Afghanistan. Before he left he told Becca that they should take a break, he didn’t know any other way to deal with what he was going through but he never said that to her. He basically said that they’d take a break and maybe when he gets back they can see if they could pick up where they left off.

However, Becca wasn’t taking it so great. She so loved him and the break up almost killed her. Her mother, who was Team Denny, also turned on him after seeing the state that her daughter was left in after Denny had gone to war. She’d gone into depression, barely ate, and lost a ton of weight. She was devastated.

So now it’s two years later and there’s an opportunity to see Denny one last time so that she can have closure before she marries her current boyfriend.

Her brother and friends are headed up to Virgin River to hunt and fish with Denny for an entire week. She decides to crash their hunting trip and journeys off to see if there’s anything still there between her and Denny.

Well, you can imagine all that took place! It was such a great story. I loved these two together. I especially love Denny. He’s so well-rounded and reliable and well, hot. And Becca is assertive and strong and relate-able.

A definite must read! Cozy, comforting, heartfelt, and sexy!
