Can you be rational about the death of a loved one? Can you be rational when a loved one is in the hospital? Can you be rational when your husband dies, and your child is in the hospital in a coma? This was such a thought-provoking book, and I desperately wanted Didion to give in to her emotions when dealing with her husband's sudden death and daughter's illness, but instead, she analyzes her feelings through literature and writing.
