Lovely book with all of the ingredients that create a best selling fantasy novel. There is a character for everyone to like amongst the horde of characters--from a young boy named Neb who witnesses the utter destruction of the famed city Windwir, the center of all civilized knowledge, to a handsome hero named Rudolpho who hopes to restore the lost libraries, to his very lovely, but conniving, lover Lady Jin Li Tam to the old, but savvy and wise Petronus, who has lived in hiding for many years but must now rise to the occasion and restore civilization. Of course, there is a very despicable bad guy, too, who plots to take control of the world. Along the way magic is used as battles are fought with both physical weapons and strategies.
