Read from October 28 to November 07, 2011

A beautiful dense read about a most interesting time in history when the Dutch maintained a trading company on Dejima at the port of Nagasaki. The story is engrossing and made more real with the incredibly rich descriptions of Japanese life at the time. A great book which prompted me to put myself on hold for Michell's other books
