I can't explain why, but I loved this book.

This is really a departure from my regular genre, and most stories that aren't dripping with murder and action can't hold my attention. I guess I have to tip my hat to Helen Simonson for being able to write a character intriguing enough on his own merit that I was able to follow him through his boring, daily routine, and still find him hilarious and enthralling.

I simply adore Major Pettigrew. I wish I was lucky enough to know him in real life. I was cheering at the end. Just an excellent story. :)
