As a co-worker said to me, this book feels like a vocabulary quiz. How Whitehead managed to write a book about zombies that is both haughty and dry is a mystery. The only two good things about it for me:
1) The women were interesting, complex, well-drawn characters
2) (spoiler) THE ZOMBIES WIN!

AH! If you're going to give away the ending of a book in your review, you might put the "spoiler" alert a bit higher up, instead of one word before.
