Still reading and so far, not quite so keen as on this as Moab Is My Washpot. Perhaps it is his attitude to those on the fringe, and his Cambridgophilia with all its in jokes (and about 99% public school) that puts me off. I like what I see of Stephen Fry now in his artful self depricatory way of portraying his personality, but I am pretty sure if I had met him in 1980 I would have just thought he was another 'posh twit' and not had much to do with him. I did not agree with his words on education, saying that it is 'all out there for the taking, well it is not. Some do not grow up with books or encouragement and don't develop well as learners if from poorer backgrounds.
I was just settling into this book as well, when it ended. I think the next part of his life will be more interesting. I do want to hear more personal stuff too, but I suppose he can't write about it if most folk he knows are famous.
