A true tale of horror that happened to people like you and me. The illustrations are as depressingly beautiful as the narrative. It's hard to imagine how anyone could wrongly accuse others so blatantly and have those in power blindly believe the accusations enough to put innocent people to death. However, Rosalyn Schanzer simply and accurately tells the story of many of those involved in the Salem Village witch trials. Of course, she can't give definitive answers to why this tragedy happened but she puts forth many of the theories and raises many questions that need to be asked.
This is a great non-fiction title for those kids who aren't automatically attracted to NF. I was hooked and I hardly ever pick up non-fiction.
