This book continues the story that began in "The Brothers" and follows Sam, Ammon, Luke and Elizabeth as they are born on earth and begin their mortal existence. Once again, this book really made me think. It really made Satan and his followers seem more real to me. He whispers in the ears of the characters, trying to convince them to do things that will harm them, either physically or spiritually. This makes so much sense to me. The Holy Ghost can whisper to us, prompt us, so it just makes sense that Satan can do the same. Just like in the cartoons when you see a devil sitting on one shoulder and an angel sitting on the other shoulder. I can also understand how evil men can become truly evil through listening to the urgings on the adversary. And the atrocities committed by men, which I have never been able to makes more sense to me now that they come about because men listen to Satan's whisperings. I did enjoy this story. It's one that was hard to put down.
