Frindle by Andrew Clements is an awesome Contemporary Realistic fiction book for children in 3rd grade. I loved reading this book when I was a child. Frindle encourages children to explore the creative side of language. The book has one main character named Nick. Nick is like every other kid in the 5th grade. But he has a mean spelling teacher who always makes them use the dictionary. Then, one day Nick's friend spots a pen on the ground and Nick starts calling it a frindle. The new word is a big hit in Nick's class and eventually the entire school. People all over the world are starting to say the new word. Is the word a big hit, or will Nick get in trouble for it? This book is very interesting for young readers to read. I think this book would be appealing to all or most young readers. The illustration on the book cover helps to lure in readers and interests them even more. Frindle can also be an inspirational book to some readers who have a good imagination
