I was really hesitant to read this book, I have to admit it didn't fall under my normal reading genre, but I loved it. I found Arlene to a delightful character and I loved watching her fight with her past and her future, only to learn that it is those who love us the most that will always protect us and love us- even if we defy all the gods of Alabama.

Erin I know it's Angela's favorite of Ms. Jackson's books, and I love it, but I was hesistant when she said she would send this one to you first. I would have started you in Between, Georgia, and eased you into her. gods is big and in your face and demanding, amd Between starts you in more slowly.

I am glad that you enjoyed gods, though, because Ms. Jackson is one of my all time favorite authors and I recommend all of her books.
