This is a great book. The writing is a little tough, lots of explanatory clauses and footnotes on most pages, but well worth the slog. Mamet seems a bit irritated that he came to his realizations later in life, but that is what makes this a fun read. I think one could read just a few of the short chapters/essays and get the gist. Kind of like reading all 1200 pages of Atlas Shrugged in just a couple hundred pages of his observations.
