I chose to read The Boo by Pat Conroy because it was recommended to me by a friend who is actually featured in the book. I asked him what he did to get in the book and his response was "Nothing, which is probably why I was put in it."I immediately knew this book would have a comical side to the military and it was just that. The book revolves around the life of cadets in the Citadel, a military school in Charleston."The Boo" was in charge at the time the book takes place. This story showed a bond that will not be broken. The Boo was more than just a leader to the Cadets; he was a father and friend. The Boo goes through dozens of cadet stories and it shows how they really created a bond throughout their time at the school. An example of a story would be when a cadet glued his roommate’s shoes down to the floor so he would trip when he tried to walk. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs to see another side of the military and the positive things that come out of it.
