Though I consider myself an avid science fiction reader, every now and then I have to take a break. This isn't because some of these books are bad, but because alot of plot likes to be recycled in them. This astounds me because Sci/Fi to me is a ways to let loose in what you want the reader to experience in your mind, it's a fascinating thought to dwell on. Since picking up the Spin by Robert Charles Wilson, it has rekindled my inner child and unleashed my imagination that I thought I lost years ago. Spin has such brilliant writing and imagination, it's hard to put it to words. It's a deep character driven story intertwined with an epic backdrop of cosmic proportions.

As all the sci/fi is interpreted throughout the novel, the reader is reminded that Spin is simply written around the 3 main characters (Diane, Tyler, Jason) all trying to live in a world where extraterrestrial beings are shaping the way they live. Each individual has there own demons they fight with in a world that is slowly spiraling out of control with the backdrop of imminent doom. When I put my head around what the Spin actually was doing, it was phenomenal. Robert Wilson transported me to the characters "Earth" where I was left speechless after each unbelievable move Earth tried to do to figure out what caused this phenomenon. It's categorized as hard sci/fi but everything is explained in depth toward the end of the novel that you really won't be left confused, just exhausted at what you just read.

Spin is one of those novels that I'll talk about for many years to come. It has some of the best sci/fi content I've ever read, making me realize why I love reading this genre in the first place. It has a truly wonderful humanized story at it's core that at the end really has you wanting more. I think Robert Charles Wilson may have catapulted to one of the "must read" authors on my list.
