Fast and fun romp through the south. Great characters. My only hangup was that the protagonist's voice didn't always ring true to a 12 year old girl. There were times it was a bit too mature, no matter how many books she had read, and it pulled me out of the story a bit.

Susan Bice CeeCee's maturity came from caring for her mentally I'll mom and disconnected dad. The books were her escape. I really related to her but, as your mother, am kind of glad that you didn't.
