I was lucky enough to get a review copy of this book and can I just say: Wow.
This is my favorite installment of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward. The emotional depth of the book is vast -- it's about brothers, lovers and comrades in arms. It's about budding friendship, distant parents, and painful change. She takes us through addiction, societal restructuring and the ravages of a growing war with the Lessening Society.
And at the heart is the love story between Phury and Cormia. Don't expect a typical journey here. What they have is charged, frustrating and often painful to witness.
My favorite part of the book came as a surprise -- the growing friendship between John Matthew, Qhuinn and Blay drew me in deep and ended up as one of the strongest elements of the story for me.
And we also get a nice little surprise, when Ward introduces the character most likely to be the heroine of the next novel. Who knew XXXXX had a sister?!
