really liked it

I'd have preferred a little more depth on some of the topics, but overall I found this an enjoyable read. This book does a great job of explaining some of the basic infrastructure that makes life in a modern city possible. For me, personally, a lot of it was review covering things that I already knew about, but I'm sure that the budding young civil engineer in your life would find it fascinating. In fact, I think that most adolescents with a curious mind and a bent toward understanding How Things Work would really enjoy this and get a lot out of it.
